Caught driving without insurance

DRIVING without insurance at Ryland Lower, Bunclody, on December 2 of last year has resulted in court appearance for Jonathan Murphy (22) of 5 Strawberry Hill, Bunclody.

The court heard that Murphy had a previous conviction for no insurance from Carlow District Court, however, it was after this incident. Solicitor Peter Crean said that his client had an insurance policy on the day in question, but it was on another vehicle.

Judge Staunton said that on the basis that Murphy had an insurance policy, he would treat it as a first offence and limit the period of disqualification to two years.

He also handed down a €300 fine.
