Fun in the sun for Retirement Association!

-

THERE was a great atmosphere at the CWCW recently as Enniscorthy Retirement Association hosted its annual barbecue in glorious sunshine. While it is an annual event, it’s not every year that members get to enjoy such wonderful heat and sunshine while tucking into some delicious grub fresh from the barbecue and it was a great occasion. Some 130 members from all over the local area were present and greatly enjoyed a catch up as well as the barbecue and salads whipped up by the volunteers.

Quite a few of those in attendance had definitely earned their burger and a drink after completing a sponsored walk from Abbey Square up to the CWCW. Once again, this is an annual event and this year, some 20 members took on the gruelling heat as they strolled to the other side of town. The walk is a fundraiser for a trio of wonderful local charities - namely Wexford Homecare, St John’s and the CWCW - and the members were delighted to be able to contribute by raising money ahead of their walk.

‘By the looks of things, we’ve definitely equalled last year’s total, which was €7,500,’ said Eric Duncan. ‘We’re absolutely delighted with that and a great day was had by everyone in the sunshine.’ The organisers wished to thank everyone who contributed towards making the day such a success.’
