Jim Hurley lecture will focus on the Keeragh Islands

THIS year’s Festival Lecture by local scientist and environmentalist Jim Hurley will focus on the Keeragh Islands with an introduction to the history and wildlife of the two tiny islands located 10 kilometres west of Kilmore Quay.

Jim will deliver the lecture at 8pm on Friday, July 13 in the Stella Maris Centre. Admission is free and everyone interested is welcome to attend.

The following day, Saturday, July 14, Jim will lead a leisurely two-hour nature walk on the 4.5km looped Kilmore Quay Walking Trail.

The trail takes in Forlorn Point, the sand dunes at Ballyteige Burrow and the Burrow beach. Meet at the children’s playground on the promenade in Kilmore Quay for a 2p, start. This is also a free event.
