PHOENIX ARCHERS

We are an archery club shooting under the governing body Archery Ireland. We are open to new members from eight years old to 100 years young. Archery is a fun challengin­g sport for all ages and abilities. We have fully qualified coaches to help get you started. We shoot both indoors and outdoors for training and competitio­ns.

Our current indoor venue is based in Ballymurn Hall. We train on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Blackwater GAA CLUB NOTES

Tonight (Tuesday) is the semi-final of the division six league against Rathgarogu­e-Cushinstow­n. Can the second team get promoted for a second year in a row? Throw in 8 p.m. in Blackwater.

The under-13 hurlers also play tonight (Tuesday) against Naomh Eanna ay 7.30 p.m. in Gorey against Gorey. On Wednesday night the under-20 footballer­s play Rathgarogu­e-Cushinstow­n at 8 p.m. at home. Thursday night sees our under-15 hurlers play Oulart-The Ballagh at 7.30 p.m. in Oulart, Saturday sees the under-13 hurlers play Oylegate-Glenbrien. Next Monday sees the minor hurlers play HWH Bunclody/Davidstown in the championsh­ip.

Hard luck to Darren Byrne and the Wexford under-21s who lost out to Galway in the Leinster final in heartbreak­ing fashion, losing by just a point after an epic encounter. They are still through to the all-Ireland semi-final where they play Cork provisiona­lly fixed for the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The under-15 hurlers were missing a number of players but still managed to defeat Askamore 1-11 to 1-08 which puts them through to the quarter finals with three games to spare.

The minor footballer­s had a hard fought win over Castletown in the championsh­ip which sees them qualify for the quarters finals with two games to spare. The Junior B hurlers enjoyed a large 3-22 fo 0-6 win over Clonard In the Wexford District Championsh­ip. The under-eight hurlers enjoyed a great day on Saturday playing Faythe Harriers on the quay in Wexford.

We would like to wish Jason Wallace a speedy recovery after he broke his wrist in a under-15 football clash. He will be a big loss to the team and also the minors.

HOLY HOUR: A Holy Hour with Exposition of Blessed Sacrament will take place in Courtnacud­dy Church on Sunday, July 14, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Holy Hour will take place every second Sunday of each month.

ROSARY: The Fatima Rosary takes place in Davidstown Church on the 13th of each month at 3 p.m. Every first Saturday morning there is a rosary hour in Courtnacud­dy church from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. In Davidstown the rosary will be said before all Masses. All are welcome to come along and take part.

COMMUNITY ALERT

The next meeting of Davidstown Community Alert will take place on Wednesday evening, July 11, at 8 p.m. in the Millennium Bar. All committee members and volunteers are asked to attend. Volunteers are asked to return all remaining subscripti­on forms and fees at this meeting. Thank you to all who have signed up for the new community text service to date.

COMMUNITY PARK

The first sod was turned on Kiltealy Community Park last week and work is progressin­g on the park which will be a great asset in the village for all to enjoy. Major refurbishm­ent and improvemen­ts to the Community Hall has also begun and the Walking Trails have passed inspection and will be open to all in two weeks.

STORY HOUSE

Duffry Rovers camogie club would like to thank all those who supported the club’s recent tractor run and barbecue There was a fantastic turnout. A special word of thanks to Brian, Lorcan and organisers and to the girls who turned up and worked for the day selling tickets and lines, you are a credit to the club. Oylegate ICA GUILD NEWS

Congratula­tions to Oylegate ICA who came third overall in the Special Occasions competitio­n held in Kilanerin. Oylegate came first in the Bakewell Tray Bake, second with Apron and third with Flowers. Oylegate also won the Mether Trophy for the most points at Federation competitio­ns for the year.

MOBILE LIBARARY

The mobile library will be in the village on Monday, July 30, from 4.25 p.m. to 5 p.m. The service is available to all. The mobile will be in the village monthly from September. Oylegate United will hold their AGM on Monday, July 16, at 9 p.m. in Oylegate Community Centre. We encourage all adult players, parents of schoolboys/ schoolgirl­s and anyone with an interest in soccer to attend the meeting.
