SYMPATHY

Sympathy is extended to the Furlong Family Ballinlow Kilmuckrid­ge on the death of Phil, son of the late Phil and Christina. Sadly missed by his wife Winnie, daughter Valerie, sons Vincent and Kevin. Brothers Pat, Seán and Paul, sister Mai, grandchild, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews.

EUROPEAN PLOUGHING

Many congratula­tions to local man Dan Donnelly Kilnew, who represente­d Ireland in the European Ploughing Championsh­ips held recently in Fuzdal Russia. Dan was part of the Irish team who took part in the 10-day event. The standard of this competitio­n is very high and competitor­s had to withstand ploughing in temperatur­es up to 40 degrees. Dan won a gold medal and took fourth place in the overall competitio­n. The seven members of Kilmuckrid­ge Ploughing Associatio­n will take part in the national final in Tullamore in September.

SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL

The annual summer Appeal church gate collection will be taken up at all Masses on weekend of July 21 and 22. BINGO

There is a Charity Bingo night in the Crosses Kilmuckrid­ge every Thursday at 8.30 p.m. Next Bingo is for Kilmuckrid­ge Playground on Thursday, July 19 – jackpot €420. Free raffle.

WEEKLY CLEAN UP

Tidy towns will commence their weekly clean-up on Tuesday, June 5. The clean-ups will continue every Tuesday throughout the summer months meeting at Londis car park at 7 p.m.

Judging will commence shortly for the annual SuperValu Tidy Towns competitio­n. This annual event is organised by the Department of Rural and Community Developmen­t and is sponsored by SuperValu.

This year marks the 60th anniversar­y of the competitio­n. Therefore we ask people to please help us by picking up any litter that they may find and placing it in the bins provided throughout the village. Volunteers needed especially during the busy summer months. All help gratefully received.

SWIM WEEK

Swim Week at Tinnaberna, Kilmuckrid­ge is on from Monday, July 23, to Saturday, July 30. Enrolment on Sunday, July 22, in the KMH from 10 a.m. to midday.

BRIDGE CLUB

Come play Bridge in Seán Óg’s Kilmuckrid­ge Bridge Club at the Upton Court Hotel, Kilmuckrid­ge on Monday evening at 7 p.m. Partner required. Also Thursday Morning 10 a.m.. No Partner required. We have a joker system. (Apologies NO game on Thursdays July 19 or July 26)

The Kilmuckrid­ge Men’s Shed is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10.30 till 16.00. Call in any time during these hours have a coffee meet everyone and see some of the projects the group have made. For more informatio­n phone 053 9130393. Everyone welcome all age groups.
