GAA CLUB NOTES

Micheál Darcy, chair of the club, gave us the great news that Phase two of developments at the club grounds is to start in August. The main pitch floodlighting upgrade, walking track lighting and carpark lighting, at a cost of 1€41,000, will really enhance the area for community use. The club wants to thank all who contributed to the fundraising for all recent developments. In return, we all should thank Micheál and the club officers, Tara, Siobhán, Eleanor and all others who were involved in processing this project for the last year or more.

Team of the week goes to the adult ladies’ football team who defeated Fethard in the intermediate championship. Upon such victories, a season grows. The under-nine boys were brilliant too. It was a joy to see 14 teams, from seven clubs, all playing in a football blitz. A multitude of colour across the top and lower pitches.

The adult Hurling championship, R2, is next up. The second team play Craanford on Friday the 20th, at 8 p.m., in the Rock. The first team play Shels on Saturday the 21st at 2 p.m., in Monamolin.
