FAI SOCCER CAMP

Last week St Cormac’s hosted a FAI Soccer summer camp and 74 future stars attended the week long event. They had great craic and were blessed with some of the best summer weather we have had in years.

FLYOVER OPEN.

Well done to all involved in the Harrow flyover – it’s open now, much earlier than the projected date of August 10.

GAA NEWS

On Tuesday, July 10, our under-13 hurlers had a good 7-12 to 2-5 win over Kilmore in Monageer. The team started well, eased off the throttle for a while but finished with a flourish. This win puts them on top of the table and especially well done to the boys from the under-11 squad who filled gaps left by players away on holidays. Team: Euan Pender, Raymond Kehoe, Patrick Kinsella, Eden Flynn, Harry Goff, Robert Cahill, Jack Turner, Adam Power, Charlie Donnelly, Leon Doran, Evan Dunne, Bobby Codd, Tomas Deacon, Seán Egan, Christophe­r Kehoe, subs: Henry Kelly, Conor Burke, Gerard Turner and Aaron Leacy.

Earlier in the week, on Sunday the eighth., the junior hurlers also scored seven goals, beating Gussarane by 7-15 to 3-12 to qualify for the league final.

The under-13s had also played on Sunday in the Bill Hassey Blitz in Davidstown. Fielding a team which included six drafted in from the under-11 squad, they gave good account of themselves and won the shield trophy. There were four sets of brothers involved in this squad, Powers, Turners, Dunnes and Kehoes.

GAA LOTTO

On Tuesday last July 10 the numbers drawn were 1, 6, 22 and 31 in the Monageer-Boolavogue lotto. As noone had them, the jackpot has gone up to €4,400 for the next draw on Tuesday next, July 27.

Tickets costing only €2 can be had from all club members and local businesses.

MINISTERS OF THE WORD

The Minister of the Word reading at the Vigil Mass on Saturday, July 21, is Éinín Rossiter with Ann Whelan helping distribute Holy Communion. Gaye Gahan is reading at the 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday morning, July 22, and will also be acting as Minister of the Eucharist.

SEISIÚIN

There will be great entertainm­ent in the Fr Murphy centre in Tomnaboley every Wednesday night from now on as the annual Seisiún lead by Pádraig Sinnott will be held there from 9 p.m. till late. It’s a feast of traditiona­l music, songs dancing and storytelli­ng. Entry is free and the craic is mighty.

CÚL CAMP

The annual Cúl Camp host- ed by Monageer-Boolavogue GAA Club will run from Monday, July 30, to Friday, August 3, this year.

The cost for the first child is €60, €50 for the second and €40 each for any other siblings. There are a few places remaining and these can be booked online or by contacting Shane O’Hanlon at 087 9898059. As well as top class coaching from 10 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. each day of the week, the participan­ts will get a Cúl Camp jersey, a training top and a backpack.
