M11 roadworks on the way
Motorists travelling through north Wexford will have to take a different route in August due to numerous bridge repair works being carried out along the M11 and local roads.
A total of four roads will be closed on a temporary basis to facilitate the works, including the busy M11 motorway.
Wexford County Council intends to close the M11 Motorway (Northbound carriageway only) between Clogh Roundabout and Raheengurren interchange (Junction 23) for repair works to the underside of the Clogh Road overbridge on Monday, August 27, at 10 p.m., until 6 a.m., on Tuesday, August 28, and from 10 p.m., on Wednesday, August 29, until 6 a.m., on Thursday, August 30. The M11 northbound traffic will be diverted from Clogh Roundabout onto the R772 regional road through Gorey and back onto the M11 at Tinnock interchange (Junction 22) approximately 5 km north of Gorey.
Repair works will be carried out on Tinnock interchange bridge. The road closure will be southbound exit slip road, southbound entry slip road and the M11 overbridge at Tinnock interchange (Junction 22) on Tuesday, August 28, from 8 a.m., until 5 p.m. The alternative route is M11 southbound traffic wishing to exit at Tinnock Interchange (Junction 22) will be diverted via M11 to junction 23 at Gorey.
Clogh Overbridge, Gorey will close on Monday, August 27, from 8 a.m., until 5 p.m. The alternative route is Clogh Village to Barnadown Lower to Smith’s Cross to Ballyoughter Cross to Toberanierin to Clogh.
The Council will also close the local road over M11 at Moneycross overbridge on Wednesday, August 29, until Friday, August 31, from 8 a.m., until 5 p.m., and on Monday, September 3, from 8 a.m., until 5 p.m. The alternative route is Clogh Village to Toberanierin to Ballyoughter Cross to Smith’s Cross to Barnadown Lower to Barnadown Upper to Moneycross.
All alternative routes will be signposted. Local access will be facilitated.
Any person wishing to object to the closing times of these roads should lodge the objection, in writing, to the County Secretary before 12 noon on Monday, July 30.
