Shock at the sudden passing of Andrsej

-

ENNISCORTHY and Poland were united in grief this week as news broke of the sudden passing of Andrsej Laszczyk (34) of Bellefield Road. Andrsej had phoned in sick to work on the Friday morning, complaining of an ear infection. He attended the doctor’s but was collapsed at his home the following Sunday evening and was later pronounced dead. Andrsej leaves behind his devastated parnter Gosia and his five year-old son Bartek.

An extremely well thought of character in the area, Andrsej was always a friendly face at Tyreworld on the Island Road, where he was an important part of the team. Owner Ronan Furlong said that they were all deeply saddened by his loss.

‘Andrsej was with us here for 11 years,’ he said. ‘It was a big shock to all of us. He called in sick on the Friday and then he collapsed at home on the Sunday. It’s terrible. He was a really hard worker and was brilliant at anything he turned his hand to around here. He was really good with customers and everyone up in Bellefield thought very highly of him as well. I know during the snow, he was very good and helped out his elderly neighbours by bringing in sticks and fuel for them. He’ll be sorely missed.’

One of Andrsej’s biggest hobbies was cars and he could often be found tinkering around under the bonnet of some vintage car or other.

A Polish priest attended Crosbie’s Funeral Home last Tuesday evening for prayers before Andrsej’s remains made the tragic final journey back to his native Poland for burial. May he rest in peace.
