Ready to Rumble ahead of Blue Light Fight Night

- By PÁDRAIG BYRNE

GARDAÍ and fire-fighters from across the county are set to face off in a grudge match for the second instalment of the Blue Night Fight Night which takes place in The Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy, on Sunday, August 5, at 7 p.m. The event is taking place in aid of St Patrick’s Special School and last time out it was the fire-fighters who sizzled as they ducked and dived the long arm of the law in the ring, taking bragging rights at the end of the night as winners.

This time out, the gardaí are keen for revenge and it promises to be a great night with a total of 13 match-ups, including a rematch of the battle of the Marks - Mark Power for the gardaí versus Mark Codd for the fire service. Last time out Mark Power’s hand was raised following a hotly contested bout, however, this time Mark Codd has been putting in a bit of extra work on the bags at the gym and is hopeful of setting the record straight.

Interest in the event has been very high and tickets are selling fast. You can get tickets from the garda station, St Patrick’s Special School or from Enniscorthy Fire Station on Tuesday nights from 8 p.m.

Those behind the event are also asking for the support of local businesses in hitting their fundraising goal for an incredibly worthy local cause.

The goal of the fight night is to help with the purchase of a hydrotherapy pool for St Patrick’s School and all help is greatly appreciated. All sponsors will be acknowledged in the official fight programme on the night. For more details, please contact Enniscorthy Garda Station or Fire Station.
