At the Menapians 5k on Friday, S.B.R. was well represented on the men’s side with three finishers in the top 16.

Myles Gibbons was a stellar fourth in a strong field and over a difficult course, clocking 17:02 for 5k.

Paul Gibbons followed in ninth overall in 18:02, and Adrian Doyle ran a strong race ahead of many solid Wexford competitors in 18:52 for 16th overall.

On Saturday, Tomás Kavanagh ran 19:07 for the Johnstown Parkrun for a third overall finish.

On Sunday, Myles Gibbons capped a very good weekend with a very strong performance in a national field. Myles was ninth overall out of nearly 3,000 runners in the SSE Airtricity South Dublin 10k. His time of 34:25 also made him the winner in the men’s 40-44 age category. Well done Myles!

Michael Breen also ran a very strong time of 45:42, and Claire Gibbons ran a super race, finishing in 50:27 which was good enough for 28th in her age class. Well done everyone.

The Mick Murphy Memorial road race returns on Saturday, September 8, at 5 p.m. in Ferns village.

This is always a great race with lots of prizes up for grabs, and a great night of food and refreshments that follows it.
