ENNIS CORTHY LADIES

The weekly Tuesday competition was played in the continuing good weather, and the dry conditions are bringing in fantastic scores. The course is in good condition despite the lack of rain.

Last Tuesday’s competition was sponsored by Kavanagh’s Giftware and was a team of two event.

Results: 1, Audrey Lawrence (38), Marina Hatton (30), 50 points (back nine); 2, Liz Askins (36), Dorothy Kenny (22), 50 points (back nine); 3, Helene Daly (24), Helen D’Eathe (28), 50 points; 4, Mary O’Shea (14), Mary McCauley (20), 49 points (back nine); nine-hole qualifier: 1, Bernie Butler, 20 points; 2, Lois Davies, 17 points.

Next week’s competition is part of open week and is a ladies’ and gents’ singles sponsored by Treacy’s Hotel.

The open Seniors’ competition was played on Thursday, July 19, and was sponsored by Jennings Opticians.

Results: overall, Liz Askins (26), 45 points; Cat. A, Bridget Dempsey (31), 33 points; Cat. B, Catherine Ryan (39), 43 points; Cat. C, Audrey Lawrence (38), 40 points; visitor, Siobhán Treacy (Headford, 19), 38 points.

The Senior foursomes team played Kilkenny in Bunclody on Sunday and unfortunately came up against strong opposition and lost two of three matches.

The Junior Cup team play Rosslare in Wexford on Sunday, July 29, at 4.15 p.m.

The Challenge Cup team play Tramore in Gowran on Monday, July 30, at 1 p.m.
