The hard work of the Beautiful Boolavogue group is paying off as the approaches to the village are resplenden­t with floral displays. This great work continues throughout the village, with Christine Burke voluntaril­y maintainin­g the splendid flowers in Sunset Drive.

GAA NEWS

Congratula­tions to the Monageer-Boolavogue under-10 girl who beat Starlights by 3-4 to 1-2 on Wednesday last, July 18. The previous Sunday, the junior hurlers were crowned league champions after beating neighbours Oulart by a very comprehens­ive 2-22 to 0-8 in the Shamrocks’ pitch in Enniscorth­y.

CANCER FUNDRAISER

Aodhagán Swords, Dranagh, is swimming a ‘marathon-ina-month’ to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society. He has already raised over €700 since the start of July and has covered over 30km of the 42km he must swim to complete the marathon. GAA LOTTO

Tonight, Tuesday, July 24, at 9.30 p.m., in the club complex in Monageer, the draw will be held for the €4,400 MonageerBo­olavogue GAA lotto jackpot. Tickets costing only €2 can be purchased in the clubhouse immediatel­y before the draw.

HELPERS AT MASS

The Minister of the Word reading at the Vigil Mass on Saturday the 28 th. of July is Aodhagán Swords with Noeleen Hennessy helping distribute Holy Communion. Marie Barne is reading at the 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday morning, July 29, and Monica Gahan will help distribute Holy Communion.

SEISIÚIN

There will be great entertainm­ent in the Fr Murphy centre in Tomnaboley every Wednesday night from now on as the annual Seisiún lead by Pádraig Sinnott will be held there from 9 p.m. till late. It’s a feast of traditiona­l music, songs dancing and storytelli­ng. Entry is free and the craic is mighty.

CÚL CAMP

The annual Cúl Camp hosted by Monageer-Boolavogue GAA Club will run from Monday, July 30, to Friday, August 3, this year. The cost for the first child is €60, €50 for the second and €40 each for any other siblings. There are a few places remaining and these can be booked online or by contacting Shane O’Hanlon at 087 9898059. As well as top class coaching from 10 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. each day of the week, the participan­ts will get a Cúl Camp jersey, a training top and a backpack.
