Cado & Co ready to rock after fundraiser
THE Bailey was well and truly rockin’ recently as it hosted a special joint fundraiser for Buddy the Musical and the Rock n’ Roll element of this week’s Rockin’ Food Festival.
Buddy the Musical will be hitting the stage in Enniscorthy once again after a sell-out run last year which saw the production gain rave reviews. Kildare musician Cado will reprise the role of Buddy Holly as the production explodes onto the Presentation Centre stage once again from August 13 to 16 and again on August 20. The show tells the story of the tragically short life of Buddy Holly who, along with high-school friends and bandmates The Crickets, turned country music upside down to create some of the greatest rock n’ roll songs ever written.
Having established a wonderful onstage chemistry, the leading man Cado has joined with two Enniscorthy men, Pat Murphy and Paul Grace, to form Cado & The Delta Cats and they were in fine form as they rocked the Bailey for the fundraiser. Some wonderful dancers also took to the floor with the South East Rock n’ Roll Club well represented on the night.
‘Things are going really well,’ said Producer Adrienne Murphy. ‘We are flat out three nights a week rehearsing now and things are coming along nicely.’
The fundraiser aimed to allay some of €6,500 cost of putting the show on and ensure that it raised some much needed funds for Pieta House. ‘Last year, we raised €15,000,’ Adrienne said. ‘So if we could raise something close to that this year as well, that would be amazing.’
Tickets for the show are on sale from the Presentation Centre now and people are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment.
