Medentech is now known as Kersia Ireland
ONE of Wexford’s most wellknown businesses has changed its name.
Medentech, which employs over 100 people at its premises in Clonard, will now be known as Kersia Ireland.
The new name was officially unveiled at a ceremony at the business on Friday, July 20. Established in 1984 the company also has offices in New York and Spain.
Some of the employees in Wexford have been with the company since it was set up and a spokesperson said that fact was indicative of the commitment of the workforce there.
A year ago a group was formed comprised of Hypred, Antigerm, Medentech, LCB Food Safety and G3. The collective is now known as the Kersia Group focussing attention on infection control.
‘ The adoption of a unique name is an important step in the group’s ambitious development strategy based on a mix of organic and external growth,’ said the spokesperson.
‘Kersia Group has set ambitious targets for the next five years by following new organic growth opportunities and welcoming new players that will expand global reach,’ she added.
The Wexford company helps save vulnerable lives everyday in the developing world through its Aquatab water treatment tablets and hospital disinfection products.
Products made in Wexford are now in all the top USA hospitals and are used by all major aid agencies. Kersia Ireland distributes to over 140 countries and offers world leading, technologies and expertise.
Speaking about the new name and the company’s plans for expansion General Manager of Kersia Ireland, Rosie Keary, highlighted the recent acquisition of the old Sola plant in Clonard by the company as being part of that plan.
‘We were delighted to announce that we have acquired and have begun breathing new life in to the old Sola plant in Clonard due to the growth of our business and our acquisi- tion of Esteer Pharma of Germany,’ she said.
‘It is great to see a Wexford company doing so well globally.’
