BENEFIT NIGHT

There will be a benefit night in Byrne’s Lounge Bree on Saturday, August 4, for Megan Moran, who is undergoing treatment for Leukemia. Tickets are on sale at €5. Donations will be most welcome.

CELTIC ROOTS

A full Irish show in associatio­n with Celtic Roots continues in Bree Hall on Tuesday nights for the months of July and August. Tea and scones are served at 8.30 p.m. and the night’s entertainm­ent begins at 9 p.m. with music, song, dance and storytelli­ng. Admission is €10 for adults with concession­s for children and groups. For bookings contact 087 7535354.

Bree Patron will be on Sunday, August 19, commencing in Clonmore at 1.30 p.m., Bree New Cemetery 2 p.m., Bree Old Cemetery 2.30 p.m. and concluding with Benedictio­n in the church.

ROWING NEWS

Edermine Ferry will host their home regatta at Edermine on the evenings of Saturday and Sunday, August 11, and 12. On the weekend of August 17/18 club crews will head to Cork for the first ever Rowing Ireland Irish Coastal Rowing Championsh­ip, having affiliated directly to the new Coastal Rowing Section of Rowing Ireland earlier this year.

BREE BARN DANCE

Bree barn dance welcomes the Kilkennys to Byrnes Grainstore Bree Village on Saturday, August 25, followed by DJ, from 10.30 p.m. to late. Tickets for the Kilkennys are on sale in Byrne’s Of Bree/Spar Bree at €20 each. Early Bird tickets online Eventbrite €17. Ticket prices will rise closer to the event.

BREE AC NEWS

Well done to Abbie Doyle who was fourth in the National U13 75m Hurdles. Abbie also made it to the final of the 80m at the National Championsh­ips. Well done also to Olivia Howe who was seventh in the National U19 100m. Training continues for the 23 athletes competing in the National Community Games Finals in Limerick in August.
