Best of luck to Helen Clare representi­ng Wicklow in the Miss Macra Competitio­n the August Bank Holiday weekend in Thurles Co. Tipperary. Helen has been a member of Johnstown-Coolgreany Macra for many years and the whole community wishes her the best of luck.

GYMKHANA

The annual Coolgreany Gymkhana will be held in Coolgreany on Sunday, September 23, in Coolgreany, and plans are advancing favourably for that day, which is always very worthwhile day out, with some lovely Trophies and Cups to be won, and also some very good prizes in the very popular Dog Show section.

TIDY TOWNS

Will the person who was observed removing two railway sleepers from behind the wall at the lower street, please return them, as the are part of the flower bed project. Also the person who emptied the three Flower Pots from the Bridge, hands off, Maureen was watching you.

The keep Wexford Beautiful Competitio­n is taking place over the next few weeks and the committee are asking people to keep the grass verges and footpaths litter-free, the village is looking well with all the seats, tables, flower pots and hanging baskets looking splendid. The Tidy Towns use the returns for the Flowers and Equipment. Thank You.

The committee are appealing for as much help as possible in preparatio­n for the adjudicati­on of the village for the Tidy Towns Competitio­n which is imminent. Vintage Club

Vintage Day will be held in Coolgreany on Sunday, September 9, plans for the day include bouncy castle, forge iron works exhibition and may other side shows with vintage cars and tractors of all vintage years on exhibit. The plan is to have auto jumble stalls and vintage dress also. Entertainm­ent on the field will be provided by Stacey Breen with her lovely versions of old country and western music. All exhibits and trade stands must be on the field by midday, and all vehicles must have their own insurance. The committee are appealing to anyone who has an Interest in Vintage Cars or Tractors to Join our club, the membership fee is set at a very reasonable sum of €25, and everyone is welcome to join. Next Meeting on next Wednesday evening at 8.30 p.m.

HANDBALL

Coolgreany Handball lotto now stands at €6,400, lotto tickets are available in Jim Short’s, Coolgreany post office, O’Rafferty’s. A new prize format is now in place, with seven lucky dips worth €30 each and one Seller’s prize. No Winner last week: Your weekly support is very much appreciate­d by the club. Winning numbers 3-14-26-27.

Congratula­tions to Leanne Boland and Lucia Merrigan on winning the County Ladies 60 x 30 Ladies Co Minor Handball Final.
