ACTIVE RETIRED

It was a packed few days with excursions to Dungarvan, Ardmore, Lismore, Mount Mellary and a shopping trip to Cork. Over the next couple of months, more outings are planned. It was a wonderful occasion and a fantastic achievement for the boys to win this wonderful competition which was started back in the 1950s. The first time Oulart and the Ballagh schools won it was in 1963 and the last time was 21 years ago till this year 2018.

What a great accomplishment for the boys and a huge big thank you to all the trainers/mentors/ teachers who were involved with this successful team of boys, from the club and the schools. The boys were very proud and excited receiving their medals, all worthy winners, for the commitment and dedication that they all give for their club and schools wearing the Red and Black.

A big thank you to Jimmy Prendergast and Shaun Murphy for presenting the medals to the boys and well done to everyone who was involved with helping before and on the night, making it a very special for the boys and all their families. Go raibh míle maith agaibh.

CAMOGIE NEWS

The under-eight girls played in the Margret O’Leary inaugural Tournament last Saturday in Buffers Alley. A huge well done to Buffers Alley for organising this lovely day in honour of Mrs O’Leary with an under-eight camogie Tournament in her memory. Six Clubs took part, Buffers Alley, Oulart-The Ballagh, St Patrick’s, Camolin, Monageer-Boolavogue, Fern’s, St Aidan’s, and Ballinastragh Gaels. All the girls had a brilliant day and it was a fitting tribute to a remarkable and wonderful lady who was club president till her passing in July 2017.

A big thank you to Buffers Alley camogie club and to Una Lacey, Margaret’s granddaughter for presenting medals to all the girls. All the underage camogie players are busy training and playing matches. We will give details of fixtures next week.
