GAA/CAMOGIE NEWS

On Wednesday of last week, the under-10 camogie team had a great win over neighbours, Oulart-The Ballagh. Emily Kinsella and Anna Gahan scored some superb points while Kate Doyle rattled the net with a great goal. Céilí Millar pulled off some great saves to deny a feisty Oulart side while all 12 players gave all from start to finish. Team: Kate Doyle, Anna Gahan, Celine Kirwan, Robyn O’Loughlin, Niamh O’Loughlin, Rose Codd, Áine O’Loughlin, Dearbhla Dolan, Céilí Miller, Tara Stafford, Emily Kinsella and Ruby Flynn.

The previous evening the under-14 camogie team beat Kilmore at home in Monageer. After a tough, exciting game, the final score was 4-10 to our girls with Kilmore scoring 4-4. This win sees them through to the county semi-final has still to be fixed.

The Junior ‘B’ hurlers went down to Duffry Rovers by a single point on Wednesday last, losing out by 3-12 to 3-11. Three goals conceded in the first half saw them trail by seven points. However, the team showed great heart and had the gap down to a managable four points by the interval. A gutsy start to the second half had them soon one point ahead. Duffry Rovers, in fairness, never buckled and in the end the bounce of the ball went their way and they won by that single point.

The previous evening, Tuesday the 24th, the under-13 footballers beat Craanford by 4-14 to 3-2, leaving them top of their group with a place in the county quarter-final.
