FANTASTIC ROCKIN’ FOOD FEST WEEKEND DRAWS BIGGEST EVER CROWDS

- By SARA GAHAN

There was a significant increase in numbers at this year’s Enniscorthy Rockin’ Food Festival.

District Manager of Enniscorthy Municipal District Liz Hore said it was a huge success with a 40 per cent increase on attendance compared to last year.

‘ The Ferris Wheel was a great attraction,’ said Ms Hore. ‘ This year we had 35 gigs, and last year we had 22.’

Over the weekend, visitors enjoyed the much loved Artisan Food, Drink and Crafts Market which included more than 80 vendors scattered around the streets of Enniscorthy.

In between feasting, there was a huge variety of live outdoor music that created a fantastic energy around the town from both Irish and international Rock ‘n’ Roll talent.

‘ The IFA Centre had to close their doors for one gig as it was packed,’ added Ms Hore.

The new addition to the festival, Enniscorthy Arts trail, was a brilliant success and something that they hope to build on next year. ‘Property owners let artists exhibit their pieces in vacant buildings around Enniscorthy,’ said Ms Hore.

Ms Hore said the children’s activities were very well-attended, especially the Slime Making event which sold out. They also enjoyed Lego workshops, cupcake and chocolate camps, and shield making.

An overall thanks went to all the sponsors, Enniscorthy Chamber of Commerce, Jean O’Connell, and to those who attended the three-day festival.
