Leinster Club draws
FOUR OF the six Wexford contestants were given home draws when the pairings were finalised for the various AIB Leinster Club championships at a meeting in Portlaoise last week. One of the odd ones out are the Pettitt’s Senior hurling victors who will have to travel to Laois for a quarter-final on November 4, but the winners will be at home to the Kilkenny representatives a fortnight later.
In Senior football, the draw is about as tough as it gets, albeit with no travelling involved. First up will be the Meath reps. on October 28 and, if Wexford’s winner manages to get through, they will be facing the might of Dublin in the quarter-final on November 11.
Turning to the Intermediate championships, both county title winners will be at home.
The hurling victors will host the Meath Senior titleholders on November 3, and a win would set up a semi-final two weeks later against either the Kilkenny Intermediate or the Kildare Senior champions.
In football, the Wexford representatives will face Mullinavat who retained their Kilkenny Senior crown recently with a high-scoring victory against Muckalee in Bennettsbridge.
The Intermediate ‘A’ champions will have to travel for the Junior hurling quarter-final, away to either the Wicklow Intermediate or Longford Senior winners on November 3.
Finally, the successful Intermediate ‘A’ football club will come up against Kilkenny Intermediate champions Tullogher-Rosbercon in the Junior competition on October 27, with the victors set to host the Longford Intermediate runners-up in the quarter-final on November 10.
