Fancied Eddie romps home

Hot favourite delivers another victory for Henry Kelly

-

THERE WAS an excellent card featured at Enniscorthy Greyhound Track on Thursday night, with races ranging from 350 yards to 830 yards, and full marks to manager Jim Turner.

Many other managers around other tracks should take note how to put on a very attractive card for patrons, and his efforts were rewarded with a very good crowd attending to enjoy some fine racing.

The feature event was the final of the Horse and Hound tri-distance, worth a nice €3,000 to the winner.

Hot favourite Karlow Eddie has been burning up the track in recent weeks for Co. Carlow owner Henry Kelly who seems to be unbeatable of late.

And he was again in top order as Karlow led and gave his supporters few anxious moments before he emerged as a clearcut winner in a very good time of 32.45 for the 600 yards final.

The commentator got so excited that she hit notes the opera festival sopranos would be proud to hit.

The final of the Ballinaboola sweepstake, race three, saw the Gordon Murray-owned Ketch Up Snoopy score a very nice win in a good time of 28.77.

Local man Patrick Gordon saw his Notorious Nodrog get the better of favourite Karlow Crean by three-quarters of a length to win the Derby trial stake final in a time of 30.44.

He will now go to Shelbourne to represent the track in the upcoming Boylesports Derby.

The Bar One Irish Sprint continued in Dundalk on Friday, and both Wexford runners progressed to this weeks semi-finals.

Broadstrand Kiwi, trained by Eamonn Moore, and Our Boy Junior, trained by Nick Turner, both from Barntown, line up in the second semi-final in traps one and six, so fingers crossed they can both make the final.
