Holos Skincare to hit Hong Kong market following new deal

-

BASED in Enniscorthy’s Enterprise and Technology Centre, Holos Skincare is setting its sights on lucrative foreign markets after agreeing a deal to launch the product in Hong Kong. It’s been a meteoric rise for creator and CEO Niamh Hogan, having scooped numerous prestigious awards since launching in 2014, including the coveted Image Publications Most Innovative Irish Brand Award.

Manufacturing and distributing plant-based skincare that helps prevent the signs of ageing, Holos is available locally in Sam McCauleys and Evolv Health Store as well as through their online store at holos.ie. However, Niamh is looking forward to accessing a much bigger market going forward after welcoming new distribution partner Terry Chan from Dermatcare Hong Kong to Holos HQ in Enniscorthy last week to finalise a deal to launch Holos Hong Kong - the company’s first major move into the export market.

‘I have been looking at Hong Kong since 2015 since meeting some prominent distributors from the territory,’ Niamh explained. ‘ They predicted that skincare products with an emphasis on health and especially essential oils were picking up pace. Hong Kong has a population of 7.5 million so larger than Ireland but is 31 times smaller in size. It is a large number of people in a very small space. It is physically a small space to cover so we can place our focus on it and not be spread too thin.’

Niamh said it was important to find a brand partner in Hong Kong that maintained the ‘ look, feel and ethos of the brand’ and she is confident that Dermatcare is the right fight. She also added that Holos will not be selling on mainland China ‘ because of their required animal testing laws’.

Holos rose in popularity after Niamh’s success on RTE’s Dragons Den in 2016 and is also one of Enterprise Ireland’s High Potential Start ups. The company currently employs a team of four with plans to expand in the coming months to support their growth on the domestic and export market and Niamh is hopefully her products can be every bit as successful in Asia.
