The proceeds, in excess of €4,000, of the recently held Shane Fenlon Momorial Tournament will be presented to the.

Wexford Hospice Homecare in the Monageer Tavern on Sunday, August 12, at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.

On Tuesday last, July 31, our under-13 hurlers were away to Ballymurn and won by a single goal, 3-9 to 2-9 at the end of a very exciting and closely fought game. Patrick Kinsella was the hero of the hour, scoring a late goal to win the game. Euan Pender was again outstandin­g, clocking up some vital long range frees. The backs were staunch in defence with Jack Turner giving a display of brilliance, especially in the second half.

The camogie and GAA clubs would like to congragula­te Gráinne McCabe who was on the Wexford Minor camogie team which won the Leinster title on Sunday, July 29, beating a very strong Kilkenny side in Bannagher, Co. Offaly, by 2-11 to 1-9.

GAA LOTTO

Tonight, Tuesday, August 7, at 9.30 p.m., the draw for the Monageer/Boolavouge GAA lotto jackpot of €4,500 will be held in the club complex in Monageer. Everyone is welcome to go along and witness the draw and tickets costing only €2 can be purchased in the complex before the draw. Even if you do not win, you could still pick up the €160 match-three prize.

MINISTERS OF THE WORD

The Minister of the Word reading at the Vigil Mass on Saturday, August 11, is Rosaleen Gahan with Geraldine Doyle helping distribute Holy Communion. Mary Gilbride is reading at the 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday morning, August 12, and Catherine Gahan will be the Minister of the Eucharist.

On Tuesday, August 14, the Vigil Mas for the feast of the Assumption, Bernie Flood will be reading with Caroline Farrington helping distribute Communion. Minister for the Word at the Mass on the feast day is Leila Breen while Kathleen Kehoe is the Minister for the Eucharist on duty.

FR MURPHY CENTRE

On Friday, August 27, the Fr Murphy Centre in Boolavogue was featured on the Six One News on RTÉ Damien Tiernan, the South East correspond­ent visited with a film crew on Thursday and interviewe­d the committee chairpreso­n, Pádraig Sinnott.

SEISIÚIN

If RTÉ had visited the Fr Murphy Centre on any Wednesday night, they could have recorded the weekly Seisiúin, which takes place there. Starting at 9 p.m., you can listen to some brilliant Irish music and singing and even take part in the céilí dancing. Lead by Pádraig Sinnott, the craic lasts till late and you might be even called on to do your party piece. Entry is free and the best of homemade refreshmen­ts are served.

SOCCER AGM

At the recent AGM of St Cormac’s AFC, there was no change at the top, with Phil Christophi, the popular chairperso­n, who managed the club’s Youths’ side to a well deserved league title, returned unopposed. Long serving secretary, John Farrington was also returned and anyone, in particular parents of underage players, who is interested in joining the club’s committee is asked to contact either Phil or John.

CAMINO DE SANIAGO

Anyone interested in joinin the Ferns Camino de Santiago is asked to phone 053 9233178 for details. The pilgrimage takes place from the seventh. to August 18 and Fr James Cullen is the Chaplin travelling with the group.
