EDERMINE REGATTA
Edermine Ferry Rowing Club will host their home regatta on the evenings of Saturday the 11th and Sunday, August 12, on the River Slaney at the Marmion Bridge, Edermine. A programme of 25 race finals along with qualifying heats sets the scene for some exciting Slaney Cot racing in both the junior and adult categories.
Approximate start time for each day is 4 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. depending on the tide and we look forward to welcoming competitors from the Slaney Rowing Association Clubs as well as spectators to this annual event. Check our Edermine Ferry – Public Facebook page for more details prior to the event.
ROWING CLUB NEWS
Despite a wet start to the day, Edermine Rowing Club enjoyed another great day’s racing at the Ferrycarrig regatta on Sunday 29th July and clocked up 6 x 1st places, 7 x 2nd places and 7 x 3rd places in the finals on the day. 1st places went to crews of 2nd Cl Ladies, U16 Boys, 3rd Cl Men, U14 Boys(A), U14 Boys(B) & 2nd Cl Men. 2nd places went to U18 Boys, U18 Girls, Pre-Vet Ladies, 1st Cl Men, Pre-Vet Men, 2nd Cl Men & Veteran Mixed and 3rd places to additional crews in U16 Boys, 2nd Cl Mixed, U14 Girls, 1st Cl Ladies, U16 Girls, U12 Girls & Veteran Mixed. Well done to all of our members for their participation on the day.
PATRON
Bree Patron will be on Sunday, August 19, commencing in Clonmore at 1.30 p.m., Bree New Cemetery 2 p.m., Bree Old Cemetery 2.30 p.m. and concluding with Benediction in the church.
CELTIC ROOTS
A full Irish show in association with Celtic Roots continues in Bree Hall on Tuesday nights for the month of August. Tea and scones are served at 8.30 p.m. and the night’s entertainment begins at 9 p.m. with music, song, dance and storytelling. Admission is €10 for adults with concessions for children and groups. BREE BARN DANCE
Bree barn dance welcomes the Kilkennys to Byrnes Grainstore Bree Village on Saturday, August 25, followed by DJ, from 10.30 p.m. to late. Tickets for the Kilkennys are on sale in Byrne’s Of Bree/Spar Bree at €20 each. Early Bird tickets online Eventbrite €17. Ticket prices will rise closer to the event.
VOLUNTEER DRIVERS
The Irish Cancer Society needs extra drivers for the Volunteer Driver Service in Wexford – to drive cancer patients to and from their chemotherapy appointments in Waterford University Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin. We are looking for drivers with free weekday availability and who have a car available to them. Drivers should be able to commit to driving at least two full (week) days a month.
