24-HOUR WALKATHON

Half-Way-House/Bunclody GAA Club are holding a 24-hour Walkathon and Dawn Walk in associatio­n with Hospice Home Care this weekend September Saturday the eighth and Sunday the ninth. The Dawn Walk will commence at on Sunday, September 9, at 6 a.m. at the GAA Pitch Walking Track and a bucket collection will take place. Your participat­ion is most welcome and your support will be gratefully received.

RIVERDANCE TROUPE

Congratula­tions and well done to five young local dancers who were part of the spectacula­r Riverdance Troupe, who danced at the World Meeting of families for Pope Francis in Croke Park. They are Gearóid Maher, Luke Burke, Isobel Whitty, Sinéad Byrne and Clíona Byrne. Who are all students of the Derwin School of dance.

THE MONDAY CLUB

The Monday Club resumes at St Mary’s Day Centre, Ryland Road on September 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Monday, September 17 – Visit to Coolaught Gardens and Garden Centre.

Monday, September 24 – Arts and crafts. Cards, Darts, bingo and lots more.

New Members Always Welcome Throughout the year we will have entertainm­ent, informatio­n sharing, arts/crafts, guest speakers, bingo/ card playing.

This Club would suit 60+ age group. Entrance Fee: €4 which includes tea and Light Lunch. Come along-enjoy a social and informativ­e gathering.

SPEECH AND DRAMA

Speech and Drama classes will resume on Monday, September 10, in Kilmyshall NS and Wednesday, September 12, in Our Lady of Lourdes NS Bunclody for both Primary and Secondary school students.

These classes are not only fun but are also a great way to improve confidence, creativity and communicat­ion skills which will benefit children all through their lives.

During the year students will perform their own show, prepare for festivals and Speech and Drama Exams (with the Irish Board of Speech and Drama) as well as play drama games, work on speech and vocal projection, poetry, improvisat­ion, monologues, public speaking, mime and so much more, while above all making sure to have lots of fun.
