Celebrating 25 years in business

-

BALLYMONEY Golf Club are celebrating 25 years since first opening their doors to the public in July 1993.

After a lot of hard work and great ideas from proprietor Ron Breen, Ballymoney Golf Club has been a great success ever since.

Ron would often get his family involved in the business by helping him to pick stones from nearby fields in preparation for the ILGU and GUI affiliated clubs. Hard work and determination come naturally to Ron.

Ballymoney Golf Club first began as a nine hole course with the family shed being used as the ‘ hut/reception’, where Julia and Shalga worked.

Down the line, it was then upgraded to a 18 hole course with a clubhouse and members. It is loved by all members, societies and visitors alike.

The par 71 parkland course has grown and matured into a challenging golfing experience for golfers of all levels. The course is set in a picturesque surrounding of Ballymoney and has excellent views of Tara Hill which dominates the landscape.

In 2013 they became the winner of the First Inaugural Weatherglaze Trophy (between the four local Clubs) and have successfully defended it in 2014, 2015 2016 and 2017.

To celebrate their 25th, Rons daughter Shalga organised a party with barbecue and music. The members played a three ball shot gun scramble on Saturday, July 21. Captain Marty Lawlor presented Ron with a hand made plaque from the Committee to mark the milestone.

membership options cater for the occasional golfer to the more committed and are reflected by our competitively priced membership options. The memberships all include a full GUI and ILGU and the course is open to all members seven days a week. No exclusivity.
