Glynn Barntown begin the season with a bang

Division2

Last season’s Division 4A champions may have taken a giant leap up the grades due to the ease of their title win, but they showed they should be a match for anyone at this much higher level with a comfortabl­e 4-0 away win over Taghmon United. Allen Colgate helped himself to a double for the winners, with Robert Dempsey and Rioghan Crosbie also hitting the back of the net.

Crossabeg also began the season with a victory, seeing off Enniscorth­y United 4-2 thanks to Kenny Kavanagh, Will McCreery, Conor Maddock and an own goal, with Kyle Foley and Dillon Redmond replying.

Ian White got both goals for Adamstown in their 2-0 win over Killenagh Wanderers, while Curracloe United and Cushinstow­n drew 1-1, with Brian O’Connor scoring for the seasiders and Ian Gaffney replying.

Paddy Barron and Kieran Kelly got the goals for Shelburne in their 2-2 draw with Rosslare Port, with Jamie McMahon netting twice for the visitors.

Division3

Graham Nolan was the match winner for Shamrock Rovers on Sunday as his double earned the Enniscorth­y men a 2-0 win over Wexford Celtic.

A Dylan Vickers strike was enough to earn Gorey Rangers the three points against Enniscorth­y Town, while St. Joseph’s also eked out a 1-0 win, with a Seán Furlong goal edging out Bree United.

Paddy Kavanagh (two) and Cian Cowman got the goals for Bunclody in their 3-2 win over Rathnure, with Nicky Quigley and Shane Lawlor replying.

Enda Wickham (two), Mervyn Moloney, Mark Cowman and Stephen Costello got the goals for last season’s Division 3A champs, Raheen, as they beat runners-up Wexford Albion 5-2.

Division3A

Ajax Athletic made an impressive start to the campaign as they overcame Corach Ramblers 5-2 in their Division 3A match on Sunday.

Darren Morrissey and Liam Moore both bagged doubles for the Enniscorth­y side, with Glenn Fortune grabbing their other goal and Mark Hayes and Alan Diskin replying for Ramblers.

Eunan Sludds and David ‘Blondie’ O’Brien (penalty) got the goals for Oylegate United in their 2-1 win over All Blacks, with John Codd replying, while Mark Tobin, Carrick Lyons and Mark Browne hit the back of the net for Bridge Rovers in their 3-0 triumph against Rosslare Rangers. Robbie O’Connor, Graeme Healy and Aaron Lambert were the scorers for Wexford Bohs in their 3-3 draw with Ballymurn Celtic, with Paul Larrissy, Paul Walsh and Luke Lacey replying.

Division4

Rosbercon United were on cloud nine on Sunday as they began the season in swashbuckl­ing style. Jamie St. Ledger helped himself to four goals, Kevin Doyle added a hat-trick, and Barry Ryan bagged a double as they scored nine without reply against Curracloe United.

Carne F.C. weren’t far behind them in the scoring stakes as they overcame Campile United 7-1 with goals from Ger Burke, Leigh Aylward, Nathan Murphy, Joe O’Keeffe, Dale Ellard and Denver Kinsella (two), with Paddy Roche grabbing the consolatio­n for Campile.

Eoghan Hough and Edmunds Prudskojs hit the back of the net for Gorey Celtic as the won 2-0 in Camolin, while Ferns United won 3-1 away to The Ballagh, with Gary Breslin (two) and Barry Breen getting their goals. Courtown Hibs also began the campaign with a win, as goals from James Herbage and Sam Fidler saw them edge out Kiltealy Celtic 2-1.

Division4A

Goals were flying in from all angles as St Joseph’s saw off St. Leonards by the odd goal in nine on Sunday. Pa O’Brien (two), Darragh Corrigan, Michael McNulty and Dillon Kearns got the goals for the Kilmuckrid­ge outfit, with Seamie Kehoe (two), Conor Tighe and James Walsh replying.

Caim United also came out on top on a 5-4 scoreline, with Chris Kane and Bob Spillane both netting doubles for the winners and Paudie Leacy getting their other goal.

Paul Lambert and Stephen Kennedy also bagged braces for Cloughbawn, with Kyle Murphy getting their other goal in a 5-1 win over Enniscorth­y Town.

Daniel Furlong (two) and Shane Power got on the scoresheet for Taghmon United but they lost out 6-3 to Killenagh Wanderers. Castledock­rell and Tombrack United shared the spoils after a 1-1 draw, with Kevin Rellis scoring for the former and Jamie Walsh hitting the back of the net for Tombrack.

Division5

Jonathan Murphy and Conor O’Neill both notched doubles for Cushinstow­n as they began their Division 5 campaign in style.

Shane Brazil, Pat Kearns and Ciarán Doyle got their other goals as they saw off All Blacks 7-1, with Jamie Scallan replying.

Wexford Bohs hit Wexford Celtic for six without reply in their derby clash, with Conor Cullen and Mark Doyle scoring two goals apiece and Graham Kelly and Gary O’Brien also getting in on the act.

Ger Foley (two), Steve O’Brien and Ryan Heimsoth got the goals for Shamrock Rovers as they beat local rivals Ajax Athletic 4-1.

Dean Fortune, Ondrej Pavelka, Nathan Dickson, Niall Finn and Mark Rossiter scored for St. Cormac’s in their 5-3 win over Enniscorth­y United, with James Sheridan (two) and Mario Salveta replying for the hosts.
