Kilmore literary festival turns focus on writing for business
THERE WILL be extra focus at this yea’s Write By The Sea Kilmore festival on writing for business, with an entire day dedicated to the craft.
Friday, September 28 will offer a host of seminars on various aspects of business writing.
Starting at 10 a.m., Grainne Callanan will present ‘Business Writing for Better Results’, focusing on getting the right message across to prospective clients through clear, concise communication.
At 11.30 a.m. Ms Callanan will continue her seminar, focusing on applying business writing techniques to reports and presentations.
Participants are invited to bring samples of their own work providing it does not include any personal data relating to them or other individuals/businesses.
At 1.45 p.m. participants have a choice of courses.
Tony O’Brien will focus on Dealing with Media and minimising problems, including writing press releases, dealing with queries, pitching story ideas to journalists, and understanding how the media operates.
At the same time, Jean Cullinane will take people through the art of CV Writing.
Two seminars will be on offer again at 3 p.m.
Elizabeth Whyte from Wexford Arts Centre will give an overview on how writers can increase their success rate when it comes to applying for grants, while Elaine Walsh will discuss eTenders and how to enhance your response to such opportunities.
The day will end with a presentation of attendance certificates at 4 p.m.
