GYMKHANA

The 81st Clonroche Gymkhana takes place on Sunday, September 9, on land given by Eddie Kelly in Ballymacke­ssy. A huge crowd of equestrian people is expected as there are four arenas to cater for them, from the €1,200 horse jumping competitio­n all the way down to the kiddies arena where the lead rein classes draw huge entries.

The ever popular dog show starts at 2 p.m. with 12 classes to suit all breeds. There’ll be great excitement and fun at the pony club mounted games which will a first for Clonroche. Also new this year is a field day organised by the local GAA club. All the favourites will be there for a family day out.

As per usual all help would be appreciate­d on the Saturday setting up and Sunday. People are needed to park cars, help judges, arena personnel etc. All enquire to CJ Doyle at 087 2420599.

The clothes collection will be ongoing over the coming weeks at Cloughbawn GAA Why not take the opportunit­y to do a clear out and support our clothes recyling drive. All wearable clothing shoes, bags and belts (no cushions, pillows, duvets and curtains) thank-you for your support.

CAMOGIE NEWS

Well done to the under-seven and under-eight girls who played really well and beat Rathnure in a practice match Wed evening. Best of luck to our minor girls who are playing Castletown at home on Friday at 7 p.m. Good luck also to intermedia­tes, who play Duffry Rovers in championsh­ip at home on Monday evening next at 7 p.m. Well done also to under-12, under-14 and under-16 girls playing football with Adamstown, who are through to two county finals and a county semi-final respective­ly. Best of luck in the upcoming matches girls.

SPLIT-THE-POT

The winner of this week’s splitthe-pot, drawn in the Cloch Ban was Breda Holohan Gurrawn. The pot was €220. Tickets available in local shops and businesses and a winner drawn every week.
