LATE MICHAEL KEATING

The death occurred on Wednesday, August 22, of Michael Keating, Coolree, Ballindagg­in. Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Betty and to his brother Owen (Boston), and his sisters Kathy and Sr. Chris- tina, also nephews, nieces and extended family.

Michael, who was in failing health for some time, was well known over a wide area especially in farming circles having spent all his life extensivel­y working the family farm along with his wife Betty. He was of a sincere and neighbourl­y dispositio­n and a true gentleman and his passing will leave a void hard to be filled.

There was a large and representa­tive attendance at his funeral Mass in St Colman’s Church, Ballindagg­in after which he was laid to rest in adjoining cemetery. May he rest in peace.

COFFEE MORNING

There will be a coffee morning in Jordan’s, Ballindagg­in on Saturday, September 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with all proceeds going to the Hope Centre, Enniscorth­y. All support welcome for this worthy cause.

SEAMUS RAFTER COMMEMORAT­ION

Cllr Willie Kavanagh cordially invites you to the centenary commemorat­ion event of the death of Séamus Rafter, 1916 Rising leader and patriot and a native of Ballindagg­in, which will be held on Sunday next, September 9, in Enniscorth­y. Celebratio­n of Mass in St Aidan’s Cathedral at 12.30 p.m. with chief celebrant Bishop Denis Brennan, followed by parade to a wreath laying ceremony at the Séamus Rafter Monument. Afterwards Séamus Rafter memorabili­a will be launched in the Athenaeum with light refreshmen­ts served.

SYMPATHY

Deepest sympathy is extended to Mary Morrissey, Askinvilla­r and Catherine O’Neill, Ballindagg­in on the recent death of their father Edward Gethings, Effernogue, Ferns. Interment took place in Ferns Cemetery on Sunday, August 26, sympathy also to the family and relations of Marie Doyle (née Doyle) Rathvilly and formerly the Lane, Ballindagg­in, who died on Saturday, August 25, and was interred in Rathvilly Cemetery. Sympathy is also extended to the family of Johnny Murphy, Ballybeg Big, St Mullins and late of Cloroguebe­g, Kiltealy, who died on Sunday August May 26 they all rest in peace.

FARMING SHOWCASE

Blackstair­s Farming Group (BFG) are holding their third annual farming showcase in Rathanna on Sunday, September 16, commencing at 1.30 p.m. This year there will be many more attraction­s including a display of mountain sheep breeds, working dog demonstrat­ions by farmers who work the mountain, a wide variety of stalls, amusements and music and dancing throughout the afternoon. BFG will also be launching their newly formed company – Blackstair­s Farming Futures on Sunday, September 16. at 2.30 p.m. Full details next week.

BEFORE/AFTER SCHOOL

Blackstair­s Community Childcare are extending their services to include a before and after school club for primary school children. The club will run from 7.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will include drop off and school collection from Kiltealy N.S. There are still some places available if you would like to enrol your child. DYSPRAXIA GROUP

Wexford Dyspraxia Support Group will hold a meeting in Riverside Park Hotel on Tuesday, September 25, at 8 p.m. Bike day for children with Dyspraxia (who can’t cycle) will be held in Marshalsto­wn NS, booking essential. For further informatio­n contact Veronica at 087 9745861.

DUFFRY ROVERS LOTTO

The numbers drawn last week were 4, 17, 22 and 28. Seán Hen- drick, Caim was the only player to match three and won €150.

Seller’s prizes went to Holy Grail, Declan Doyle, Andy Kehoe and Dan Doyle. The draw tonight September 4 is in the Holy Grail.

Jackpot now stands at €3,500.

YOUTH CLUB

Caim junior youth club registrati­on night will be held in Caim Hall on Friday, September 14, The club is open to children from third class up to sixth class.

The club is one of the longest establishe­d clubs in Wexford, affiliated to FDYS and Youth work Ireland. It’s a fun and safe environmen­t, where we encourage participat­ion in different activities and events, although these are not compulsory, and there’s no pressure of competitio­n. We are run by a group of volunteers made up of parents and junior leaders from the area.

We are always looking out for new helpers, which is a great way to spend time with your children, and their friends. We all undergo Volunteer Awareness/Leader training and are garda vetted by Youth Work Ireland.
