Meanscoil Gharman students earn star billing on ‘Ceol 18’
WHILE ordinarily, album release parties seem like something that are reserved for the rich and famous of Hollywood, there were plenty of celebrations in Meánscoil Gharman last week as two students celebrated the release of ‘Ceol 18’, an Irish language album on which they feature.
Talented sixth years Jade Buttle and Nóra Moran feature on the CD alongside such massive names as Macklemore, Kodaline, Picture This Gavin James, Wheatus and The Coronas to name but a few.
The talented duo won the BEO 2017 competition at the Oireachtas last November which gave them the massive opportunity to add their names to the list of stars on the CD compiled by 2FM’s Eoghan McDermott. Speaking following the launch, the radio and TV presenter congratulated the girls on their wonderful song ‘Fuil na nÓg’ and said they were a welcome addition to ‘one hell of a list’.
The students had no idea when they penned the song, the success that would follow and they were proud as punch to see their names featured on the CD, which is available now. To celebrate the official release of the CD, the girls performed the song in front of the whole school and got a rapturous reception. Staff and management at the school wished Jane and Nóra the very best with their future musical endeavours and congratulated them on playing a very important part in celebrating Bliain na Gaeilge.
