Open day to celebrate 20 years in business

-

‘ THE children come first’ is one of the reasons why Craanford Monaseed Community Childcare is such a great success and, with no surprise, they are now celebrating 20 years in business.

They would like to invite all parents, teachers and pupils, past or present, to their Open Day on Sunday, October 7, from 3 p.m., until 5 p.m., to help them celebrate this major milestone. Craanford Monaseed Community Childcare has provided 20 years of education and care to the communities.

On the Open Day, kids can enjoy face-painting, a magic show and lots of fun and games. Plus, any parents with young children wishing to attend in the near future are also more than welcome.

Craanford Monaseed Community Childcare first opened its doors in 1998 and is still going strong to this day.

The child caring business started off small with one room in the Community Centre, but in 2010 a new state-of-the-art Playschool adjoining the Community Centre was built. This was funded by POBAL.

In the very beginning, two teachers were employed and operated in the Community Centre. Now, they have two rooms open with four teachers and up to 35 children attended the playschool on a day-to-day basis.

Since their growing success, Craanford Monaseed Community Childcare added additional services including a Morning Club and an Afterschool Club. Two more people were employed in the Afterschool Club which is going extremely well at the moment with up to 16 kids attending daily.

The Afterschool teachers collect pupils in Craanford National School at 1.40 p.m. and 2.40 p.m. to bring them across the underpass to playschool where they will be offered something hot to eat and to begin homework (if parents so wish). They are in a safe and caring environment so parents don’t have to worry about them.

That is not all, Craanford Monaseed Playschool is one of a few playschools in the country that offers a purpose built soft play area called ‘Jelly Tots Room’. This is fantastic asset to their great service.

This is a community run playschool and offers an open door policy at all times for anyone who wishes to pop in and look around at the facilities. The playschool is run based on the Aisteair and Siolta Curriculum and is all about play. They offer all POBAL programmes like ECCE, CCS, CCS universal etc. They are registered with TUSLA, Early Childhood Ireland and County Wexford Childcare.
