Kate’s exhibition has ‘Found’ a home at Presentation Centre
A COMPLETELY unique and charming exhibition was officially unveiled at The Presentation Centre in Enniscorthy recently as Kate Tyrrell unveiled what is unbelievably her first solo exhibition in the form of ‘Found’.
Anyone who has walked the beaches of County Wexford can tell you that, sometimes, you can find all manner of weird and wonderful things washed up by the sea.
This is something central to Kate’s work, as everything used in the creation of these wonderful and quirky pieces was found along the Wexford coastline near Kate’s home in Kilmuckridge. These found materials combine to create some wonderful eye-catching works which will brighten up the Presentation Centre until October 26.
Visual Arts Manager at The Presentation Centre, Lisa Byrne, congratulated Helen on a wonderful exhibition and pointed out how she has ‘ blurred the lines between craft and visual art many times over’ and shows the potential for beauty and art everywhere we look.
‘Her collection of work takes on a therapeutic nature and is noted in the form of her pieces that each item is handled with care and chosen with a careful consideration,’ she said. ‘ This process of collecting, taking home, being with these items, gives her work an unusual familiar, almost historic quality. The pieces created, although changeable over time, are created with honesty and every intent of longevity forming an instinctual connection with the natural materials in Kate’s work.’
‘Found’ is available to view until October 26 and members of the public are encouraged to drop by and check it out for themselves.
