Sky Blues are too strong for Kilmore

Reigning champions North End United safely negotiated the first hurdle as they overcame Kilmore United in their FAI Junior Cup clash in Abbie Troy Park on Sunday.

The Sky Blues began the defence of their crown with a 4-0 triumph, with Decky Downes, Gary Delaney, Jason Murphy and Kilmore native Paul Murphy getting on the scoresheet.

Gorey Rangers came out on top in another all-Wexford clash, as they chalked up a 4-1 victory in Campile.

Gavin O’Brien bagged a double for the north county men, with an own goal and David Behan adding to their tally, while Cian Gleeson replied for United.

Familiar foes also went head to head in Castlebridge, with a Chris Atkinson goal earning Bunclody a 1-0 win over Bridge Rovers, while Tombrack United needed extra-time before eking out a 3-2 win in Curracloe.

The seasiders got on the scoresheet through Richie Kearney and an own goal, while Kevin Coleman and Eoin Carton hit the back of the net for Tombrack before Matthew Hendrick plundered the winner in extra-time.

Forth Celtic returned from Enniscorthy in buoyant mood after overcoming Moyne Rangers 3-2 after extra-time, with Darren Jordan, Robert Coakley and Darragh Rossiter scoring for the Murrintown men. Peter Marsden and Pa O’Rourke got the goals for Moyne.

Jakub Konkel bagged a brace for Gorey Celtic, with Jake Cassidy getting their other goal as they ran out 3-1 winners over Mill Celtic.

Rory O’Connor was the hat-trick hero for New Ross Celtic as his treble helped the Barrowsiders to a 3-2 win over Kilree Celtic in Carlow.

Wexford League Premier Division pacesetters Shamrock Rov- ers suffered the heartache of an extra-time defeat when they were edged out 2-1 by St. Patrick’s Boys. Emmet Quirke got the goal for the Enniscorthy side.

Wexford Bohs put up a good fight before succumbing 5-3 to Hanover Harps in Drinagh. Dermot Flood, Davy Lyttleton and Andy Moore got the goals for the Wexford town side.

Ian White got on the scoresheet for Adamstown in their 4-1 loss against Bridge United, while Courtown Hibs progressed to the next round without having to kick a ball as they were handed a walkover by Corach Ramblers.
