Our next presentati­on for competitio­ns will take place on Wednesday, October 10, at 7.30 p.m.

Wexford Golf Club welcomed the Mid-Leinster women’s championsh­ip to their club recently. The Junior championsh­ips started with an 18-hole qualifier, with the top 16 gross players going through to a knockout matchplay competitio­n.

Maria Burford played against local member Louise Boshoff in the final round under very a testing environmen­t, particular­ly in windy conditions.

Maria played fantastic golf and beat her opponent comfortabl­y on the 14th hole to take home the Mid-Leinster women’s cup. Well done Maria, New Ross Golf Club is so proud of you.

Congratula­tions to the ladies who took home the Borris awards trophy this week, a great end to our season with the win.

The shorten your short game programme will be back by popular demand. This will be run over eight weeks to include five short game lessons and a weekly competitio­n, commencing early October, for €30. Leave your name in the Pro Shop if you have an interest.

We are into the second round of the mixed matchplay which has to be played by Sunday, October 7. Good luck everyone and enjoy.
