5,000 tourists expected to visit before Christmas
THE organisers of the Santa’s Enchanted Castle initiative in Enniscorthy have said around 5,000 tourists will visit the town throughout November and December as a result of the festive season attraction.
A spokesperson for Enniscorthy Chamber said 75 per cent of places have now been booked.
‘Due to such popular demand, additional tours have been added to the calendar including November 24, the day of the Enniscorthy Switch On,’ said the spokesperson.
‘ This is fantastic news for local restaurants, bars, cafés and retailers who are preparing for a busy festive season,’ he added.
The Santa’s Enchanted Castle experience will see families participate in an interactive adventure through the building accompanied by Santa’s elves along with famous Disney characters.
Rooms will be themed around famous stories and films including: Beauty & the Beast’s Christmas Banquet; Elf University; Ice Age; Under the Sea with the Little Mermaid and 100 Acre Wood.
Visitors will also be able to sample treats from Mrs Claus’ Traditional Sweet Shop before participating in a private family visit to Santa Claus.
Children will get a special gift to take home and they will also get to pose for a photo with Santa.

Another initiative taking place this year will be the Sensitive Santa Tours which will see a maximum of eight children getting to view gentle characters accompanied by their parents or guardian and a trained SNA.
‘ These tours are specially designed to support children with autism and other sensory, physical and developmental needs so that they can enjoy a magical Santa Visit in a comfortable environment,’ said the Chamber spokesperson.
The Sensitive Santa Tours will take place on: Sunday, November 25; Thursday, November 29; Thursday, December 6 and Tuesday, December 18.
The price of the tours will be: Off Peak Dates - Children (all ages) €15; Peak Dates - Children (all ages) €19; ‘Big People’ €10 inclusive of tea or coffee and a festive Wexford snack.
