CASTLEDOCKRELL NS

Weekly swimming lessons continue for the children in the Waterfront Swimming pool and great progress is being made. Boys and girls in the senior room are participating in the Rackard League at the moment. We wish them well in their matches.

Teachers and staff completed a 2.5 hour training course in ‘Basic First Aid’ this week alongside our neighbouring school Marshalstown NS.

The senior room pupils are busy learning the songs for this year’s ‘Sing Out Loud’ Concert in the National Opera House in Wexford. We will take to the stage on Thursday, November 22, at 7.30 p.m.

Our fifth and sixth class pupils attended Bunclody Vocational College open day on Friday, October 5. We also began the ‘Food Dudes’ Programme this week. This programme encourages children to sample fresh fruit and vegetables every day and they will receive stickers and prizes along the way. For further information on any of the above, please contact the school at 053 9388892 or visit our website castledockrellns.weebly.com

YOUTH CLUB EGM

Due to a low attendance at last Tuesday’s AGM, no committee has been formed for the coming year and consequently the Youth Club cannot reopen.

In order to try and form a committee, an emergency meeting will take place on Tuesday October 16, at 8 p.m. in the Community Centre. We urge parents or any volunteers willing to get involved, to come to this meeting and put themselves forward to serve on the committee or as club leaders, in the interests of keeping the club open. Full training will be provided to all leaders through FDYS (Ferns Diocesan Youth Service).
