Wells House restaurant application is adjourned

AN application for a restaurant certificate for Mrs Stone’s Restaurant at Wells House hit a bit of a snag at the District Court last week, after the judge adjourned the case to see if it was covered on the planning permission initially granted by Wexford County Council.

Sabine Rosler, who owns Wells House along with her husband Ulrich, appeared in court and stated that the restaurant was part of the visitor centre at Wells House, consisting of around 20 tables on one side and a deli counter.

She said that they served all manner of dinners and hot food and that Planning Permission had been obtained in 2012. An architect appearing on behalf of the Roslers also testified to this.

‘ This planning permission was for the retention of the extension and the use of a visitor centre,’ Judge Gerard Haughton noted. ‘Do the plans show a restaurant?’

The Judge was told that the plans didn’t specifically mention the restaurant, but it showed the chairs etc.

‘How can it be covered by planning permission then?’ he asked. ‘ There’s a kitchen there now that wasn’t there when the planning application was made. I want confirmation from the council that it’s covered under planning permission.’

The application was adjourned until October 24 to allow these queries to be carried out.
