Wexford libraries are among ten to pilot new digital project

-

WEXFORD’S LIBRARY service has been selected to contribute to the new Libraries Lead with Digital toolkit, designed to improve digital and online skills.

An event co-hosted in Brussels by the Public Libraries 2020 initiative and Google’s digital skills training initiative - the Google Digital Garage - recognised Wexford as one of ten areas in Ireland and the UK to contribute to the toolkit.

Launched during Libraries Week (October 8-13), the Libraries Lead with Digital toolkit was developed by ten libraries.

Wexford’s library service will offer a range of sessions for residents to equip them with the online skills they need to help grow their confidence, kick start their career or enhance their business.

Wexford’s libraries are welcoming anyone with an eagerness to learn despite age, demographic or level of digital experience.

Katerina Havrlant, Marketing Director at Google, said: ‘Wexford has made a really important contribution to this digital toolkit project, which will allow library staff to provide knowledge and training to help their local community learn digital skills, computer science and understand online safety. Google is very pleased to be working with Public Libraries 2020 and Wexford County Council to ensure technology brings more opportunity for everyone.’
