Exciting times ahead for Millhouse care centre in New Ross

SIGNIFICAN­T changes expected in Millhouse care centre-recently under New ownership and management SignaCare- Prudent Healthcare New Ross Ltd. The Director and head operations Manager Margaret- Anne Walsh has an extensive background in senior nursing management , education of healthcare profession­als, quality management and dementia care. She outlines plans ahead for Millhouse. “We are planning a full refurbishm­ent of the centre and rebranding in the coming weeks. We have extensive experience in providing modern, high quality care in the Nursing Home environmen­t. New ross is a great town and as a business we are very happy to get to know the local community. We are currently starting the consulting with residents and families on the planned improvemen­ts. The residents are already choosing their room colours, We are having coffee afternoons to discuss and plan out refurbishm­ent with residents and families”. Margaret- Anne has a hands-on operationa­l management role.

To provide a person centred approach to care where staff will endeavour at all times to deliver quality care informed by best practice ensuring the residents are involved in all aspects of planning and decision making.

The environmen­t will foster independen­ce, promote enablement, acknowledg­ing the uniqueness of individual­s ensuring that our residents exercise choice in all aspects of daily life. Residents are enabled to live in a manner similar to his or her home as much as possible. Routines of daily life are flexible, and change to suit the resident’s expectatio­ns, preference­s, previous interests and capabiliti­es as per their care plan.

The resident will be encouraged to participat­e in working together with management and staff towards continuous quality improvemen­t of the services by establishi­ng a Patients Committee, ensuring a comfortabl­e and safe environmen­t

There will be an emphasis on continuing education and training, to ensure all staff are up-to-date with best practice, therefore providing the highest standard of care.

We will encourage and support residents to maintain links outside the nursing home, and endeavour to welcome the local and wider community to contribute in meaningful and purposeful activities for our residents.

The Centre is in a beautiful setting just outside new Ross. Our Centre in Carlow SignatureC­are Killerig- is an example of how we strive for excellence in our care provision, recently shortliste­d for the National Community Initiative aware. We are planning to build our team of staff, training and developmen­t of staff is central to our philosophy in care. Director of Nursing Anne-Marie Ackerley noted “its exciting and changing time for Millhouse, its wonderful to see the new owners the focus highest care standards delivery, promoting person centred care and choice for all residents. “In Millhouse we also will be optimising our access to services such as physiother­apy, Speech and language, Dietician, optician, Wound care specialist is central to assisting people live well.”
