Rape accused advised to get solicitor

-

A MAN in his twenties accused of rape appeared at the District Court in Gorey without the assistance of any legal representative.

The alleged offence occurred in the Gorey area and it dated back more than ten years.

The man made himself known to the court when his case was called.

He heard Sergeant Gary Rayner state that the matter will be referred to the Central Criminal Court on the direc- tion of the DPP.

The matter was formally adjourned for preparation of the book of evidence.

In the meantime, Judge Gerard Haughton suggested to the defendant that he should go and talk to a solicitor.
