‘Tree cheers’ for €800,000 Clonroche Amenity Park!
WITH construction already under way on the new state of the art amenity park in Clonroche, the long hours put in by the Development Association committee to get the project to this point was acknowledged at a special tree-planting ceremony at the site last week.
The park is by far the biggest project the village has seen since the construction of the housing estates and it is a joint project for Clonroche Development Association and Wexford County Council.
The subject of great excitement locally, when completed, the seven acre site will including walking tracks, a children’s playground, a large car park, beautiful landscaping and an outdoor gym.
At a cost of over €800,000, it is a significant investment in the local community and the excitement was palpable last week as Chairman of New Ross Municipal District, Cllr John Fleming, joined with locals to plant a tree for the project’s official launch.
‘It’s great to see work getting underway,’ Cllr Fleming said. ‘Great credit is due to the Clonroche Development Association with Lorcan Dunne at the helm and a great committee with him. At this time we have to remember past members especially Collie Dier who passed away relatively recently and worked tirelessly for the community. Great credit also must go to Wexford County Council, particularly Ger Mackey from the community section and Sinead Casey, New Ross District Manager, for their financial assistance and their financial support today for the tree planting.’
‘ The amenity park will be a huge benefit to the local community and a place to be proud of,’ Cllr Fleming concluded. ‘Well done to all involved.’
