A COURTOWN man pleaded guilty to the possession of a knife when he came before Judge Cormac Quinn at Wexford Circuit Criminal Court.

Ken O’Byrne, of 26 Glen Richards Wood, Poulshone, Courtown Harbour, pleaded guilty to the possession of a knife at Jimmys Bar, Ballinatray Upper, Courtown Harbour, on December 14, 2017.

He further pleaded gulty to assaulting Paul Brady causing him serious harm on same occasion.

Defence Counsel John Peart SC made an application for the full facts to be presented to the court. He said that it was an unusual application to make for a sentencing, but that he believed this would be of assistance.

Ms Sinead Gleeson BL, said it’s understood the Garda will give evidence in accordance with the Book of Evidence.

Mr. Peart also asked for the preparation of a Probation and Welfare report.

Judge Quinn remanded the defendant on continuing bail to appear before the court on October 25 for mention, when the case was adjourned to January 11 next for sentencing.
