A pumpkin party for Davidstown pupils!
CLASSROOMS were filled to the rafters with pumpkins at Davidstown Primary School on Thursday as pupils took part in the annual pumpkin carving competition. There were some frightfully good creations on show with nearly 50 pumpkins displayed for judging.
The kids were encouraged to make it a family activity to come up with their own design and carve it at home before bringing it into school to show it off and some wonderful imagination was shown.
‘ This is the third year we’ve done the pumpkin carving competition,’ said Prin- cipal Ita Connolly. ‘We were encouraging creativity and imagination and we had a variety of categories like scariest pumpkin and funniest pumpkin.
‘ There were prizes sponsored by Dunnes, Pettitt’s and EuroGiant and the standard was really, really high. The kids all dressed up in their Halloween costumes then as well and we had a little party afterwards.’
As well as this, the school hosted it’s own presidential election. The winner? Let’s just say that Michael D proved every bit as popular as the pumpkins!
