Thieves leave a trail of destruction as nine mobiles hit at Duncannon park

- By DAVID LOOBY

GARDAÍ are appealing for information following a major break in at a mobile home park in Duncannon.

Wallace’s mobile home park was broken into at some time between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Tuesday. Nine mobile homes were forceably broken into and numerous flat screen TVs, fridges and cushions were stolen, along with an acoustic guitar, binoculars, frozen food, a Philips video recorder and a large quantity of cans of beer.

Superintendent John McDonald said €6,000 in property was stolen and around €2,000 in criminal damage was caused to the mobile home doors and the entrance barrier to the mobile home park,

A shed was also broken into and a washing machine was stolen. Supt McDonald said: ‘We are following up and trying to establish if we can get anything that will give us an indication of who was responsible. We’re asking anyone who saw anybody in the area even prior to midnight the previous day to contact us on 051 426030. They obviously moved a large amount of property so must have needed a van or a couple of cars.’

He extended the appeal for people to contact gardaí about anyone parked up near the mobile home park and anyone unknown in the area around this time.

‘ This is something that hasn’t happened in the area for a significant amount of time,’ he said.
