Packed house for Michael English!

- By PÁDRAIG BYRNE

WHILE all of the talk might have been about Halloween outside, it was a frightfully good night at The Riverside Park Hotel last week as country music star Michael English put on a special Halloween show. A huge audience piled into the ballroom of the hotel for the show and they were not left disappointed as it proved to be a night to remember.

As if getting one legend of the Irish scene wasn’t enough, fans were absolutely delighted to see the legendary Brendan Shine take to the stage as a special guest. A real veteran of the scene at this stage, Shine proved he’s like a fine wine as he worked the accordion and sang a range of hits from over the years.

From there it was over to English and, looking very sharp, backed by his fantastic band, the Kildare native sparked great excitement as he took to the stage. He was in fine form and produced an energetic performance, taking the audience on a trip down memory lane with some classics, but also performing some of his hit singles. Afterwards, he was happy to meet with fans and pose for photographs after what was a memorable night.

The Riverside has carved out a great reputation for country shows and the next one will take place on December 18 with the likes of Philomena Begley, Dominic Kirwan, Kathy Durkin, Louise Morrissey, Barry Kirwan, Stacy Breen, Chrissy Mac, Colm Kirwan, Ray Lynam and Aidan Quinn all set to perform.
