Bishop makes presentati­on to Kiltealy pioneers

BISHOP Denis Brennan joined with Fr Jim Fegan and Fr Brian Broaders in hosting a very special service at Kiltealy Church for members of the Pioneers Total Abstinence Associatio­n (PTAA). A total of forty-seven members were presented with diplomas, medals and pins, along with the personal con- gratulatio­ns of Bishop Brennan who handed them out.

Diplomas for life-long membership were handed to Katie Doyle, Biddy O’Leary, Kathleen O’Leary and Pat Brennan. Then receiving Fr Cullen medals were Nan Farrell, Ann Doyle, Betty Cooper, Mollie Fenlon, Nancy Byrne, Nellie McDonald, Kathleen English, Brigid Doyle, Kathleen Murphy, Marie Colman, Jane Flynn, Kitty O’Toole, Séamie Brooks, Brian O’Neill, Patrick Somers, James Colman, Pat Byrne, Vincent Codd, Kathleen Redmond and Anna Jordan.

The Bishops presented gold pins to Anne Walshe, Brigid Brennan, Brigid O’Leary, Anna May Heffernan, Margaret O’Connor, Brigid Buckley, Mary Somers, Elizabeth Somers, Patricia Lawlor, Breda Nolan, Eileen Ryan, Patricia Coughlan, Stasia Sweeney, John Doyle, Johnnie Nolan, Jack Lawlor, Denis O’Connor, Billy Heffernan, John J O’Leary and Tommy Nolan. Finally, collecting the silver pin was John Murphy and the full pioneer pin was Niamh O’Leary. Also a young pioneer pin was presented to Ben Holmes. There was a lovely atmosphere at the service and at the community hall where refreshmen­ts were served.
