REHEARSALS IN FULL SWING FOR 9 TO 5 SHOW IN NEW ROSS

-

ST MICHAEL’S Theatre Musical Society is bringing the Dolly Parton Musical ‘9 to 5’ to the stage in New Ross from November 20 to 24. Directed by Kevin Kennedy, with musical direction by Philip Kennedy and choreography by Claire Kickham, the musical comedy is an uplifting and fun-filled theatrical treat, packed with big chorus numbers, wonderful ensemble pieces and provocative solos.

Based on the 1980 movie of the same name, 9 to 5 The Musical tells the story of Violet Newstead, Judy Bernly and Doralee Rhodes, three colleagues working under the supervision of boss Franklin Hart Jr. As their friendship strengthens through adversity, the girls concoct a scheme to kidnap Hart and take control of the office, implementing new policies to improve conditions. The storyline is an inspiring testament to the power of three strong women in a male-dominated working environment.

Notwithstanding the powerful way in which the women are portrayed, Franklin Hart is feeling aggrieved at being labelled a sexist bigot and is encouraging people to get down to St. Michael’s Theatre and see for themselves.

The show stars Teresa Buckley as Violet, Ashley Doran as Judy and Jennifer White as Doralee with Keith Flanagan as Franklin Hart Jr and an ensemble cast including Julie Kinsella, Michael Benson, Phil Erskine, Owen Cullnane, Edward O’Dowd and Brid Moloney.

Rehearsals are in full swing and everyone is gearing up to the opening night on Tuesday, November 20. Don’t miss the latest production from this award-winning group. Tickets are on sale at the theatre box office, telephone 051 421255 or select you seats online at stmichaelsnewross.com.
