CHRISTMAS FAIR

A Christmas Fair will be held in the Ballagh Community Centre on Sunday, November 18, between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Anyone interested in having a Table at the Christmas Fair (at a cost of €20) is asked to contact Bessie Kehoe at 087 2358835.The proceeds will go towards refurbishm­ent of the hall.

BOXING CLUB

Training resumes in the Ballagh on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and from 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. for underage boxers and beginners. Best of luck to Ryan Cullen, who is heading to Lithuania with the Leinster squad,

PRIMARY SCHOOL SUCCESS

The Rackard League Football team from the primary schools of Oulart and the Ballagh contested the Roinn C county final in St Patrick’s Park on Thursday, November 8, against Wexford District winners, Bannow, and emerged victorious after extra time, scoring 7-5 to their opponents 4-12. Well done to the team and panel and to the teachers in charge, Ms Delaney and Mr McDonald. Just before the summer holidays the schoolboys won the Roinn A Rackard League Hurling Final against Piercestow­n so the schools and parish community have much to celebrate.

SPLIT-THE-POT

Congratula­tions to the most recent winners-Ger Dempsey, who won €65 and Paddy Cuss- en, who won €117. It costs just €2 to play and entry envelopes can be found in all local businesses: Tim’s Chipper, Caroline’s Hairdressi­ng, Bob’s Bar, Lounge, Shop and Takeaway, The Sawdust, Barry Walsh’s Car Servicing, The Unyoke Cafe, The Trading Post, Angelo’s Takeaway, The post office, The School Office and Boland’s XL Thanks to everyone who support this fundraiser.

CFR GOING LIVE

The Oulart-The Ballagh Unit of Community First Responders will be going live, seven nights a week and all day at weekends, assisting the National Ambulance Service, on a totally voluntary basis.

BOOK FAIR

The Book Fair will take place in the school from Monday, November 19, to Wednesday, November 21, Pupils will have the opportunit­y to buy books on Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The book fair will also be open to parents and pupils on Tuesday from 2.40 to 3.30 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The book fair is a wonderful opportunit­y to buy popular and recent publicatio­ns and the school earns many new books through the book fair sales. Your support as always is much appreciate­d.

RACE TO BE MAYOR

The GAA Mayoral Election is well under way and the next few months will see lots of fundraisin­g activities organised for the candidates. On Saturday, November 17, Martin ‘Sponger’ Fortune’s team will hold bingo in Bob’s Bars, starting at 7.30 p.m. Phil’s team will hold a Sunday Lunch in Oulart Community Centre on November 25. The two candidates’ teams also have raffle tickets circulatin­g, with valuable prizes on offer. We would encourage as many as possible to support the events as all the proceeds go to Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Club. Please follow the Facebook page for more details.

Joan Kavanagh and friends will hold a coffee morning in Oulart Hill Bar on Friday, November 16, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is €3. Proceeds to local girl, Sophia Ciau, who will soon go to Germany for treatment. Contact Joan (087 9019027) for further informatio­n.

ICA OPEN MEETING

Everyone is welcome to attend the November 19 meeting of Oulart ICA as it is an ‘Open Meeting’ from 8.30 p.m. The guild meetings are held in Oulart Hill Lounge (Gary O’;Leary’s) on the third Monday of the month. At this Open Meeting there will be a demonstrat­ion on how to make a ‘Memory Box’ and details will also be given on knitting an unusual scarf.

COLÁISTE AN ÁTHA
